HTC Hero Review

The HTC Hero runs on the Android operating system, developed in part by Google. Downloadable applications, full customisation and support for Google sevices such as Google Maps, G-Mail and Google Search are all Possible with Android. The Hero runs the latest version of Android meaning that it dispenses with a hardware QWERTY keyboard in favour of an on screen one which helps to keep size and weight down. This phone has much more sleeker, slimmer and contoured looks compare to what we found in our HTC Magic Review and is in my opinion a vast improvement.

The HTC Hero mobile phone also come with HTC Sense, letting you personalise and create a phone just right for you. The HTC Hero lets you add widgets to your homescreen, also letting you customise the size and style, flick through multiple windows, called scenes (which are also fully customisable), so all your favourites are at your fingertips and search for contacts, Twitter Tweets, Emails and much more. HTC Sense also brings all your contacts together in one place. When you view people in your contacts list you see the different ways to get in touch; Email, social networking updates such as Facebook and even what photos your friends have recently uploaded.

HTC Hero Review

The Hero has 3G with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, a GPS receiver and a digital compass for automatic navigation and rotation of maps. The multi-touch screen also has a built in accelerometer for auto-rotate and zooming in the gallery and web browser is a treat. Tethering is available, which means the Hero can be used as a broadband modem. There’s a standard 3.5mm audio jack and stereo Bluetooth, but video playback is disappointing. MP4 video playback is poor in higher resolutions and there’s no support for DivX or Xvid. if you have no interest in watching movies on your phone then that shouldn’t be too much of a concern though. The white HTC Hero includes an industry-first, Teflon coating, resulting in an improved, durable white surface that is soft to the touch. Compare HTC Hero Deals
